Injusto que el Beisbol desaparezca de los Olímpicos
El saber que el beisbol dejaría de estar en el programa para la siguiente versión de los Juegos Olímpicos me ha causado una verdadera tristeza, pues considero que hay otras disciplinas sin tanta tradición que deberían tomar el lugar del 'rey de los deportes'.
No sé qué parámetros utilicen las autoridades encargadas para poner y sacar competencias del programa olímpico, pero considero que escogieron una de las favoritas de los continentes americano y asiático, y esto quedó más que evidenciado en Beijing, pues los tres primeros lugares pertenecían a estas zonas del mundo.
Por ejemplo, una de las disciplinas que para mi gusto tuvo que decir adiós en estos Juegos Olímpicos fue el tenis de mesa, pues fue de los pocos deportes en los que en Beijing lucieron sus tribunas vacías, contrastando lógicamente con las que albergaron el beisbol, que lucieron repletas.
En resumen, no solamente perderemos una gran disciplina, sino los duelos entre escuadras de gran tradición, como Estados Unidos contra Cuba, un clásico en este deporte, pero también les perderemos la huella a novenas como Japón y Corea del Sur, éstas última se quedará con las ganar de defender su título al serla ganadora de Beijing ante la sorpresa de propios y extraños.
