Sí, olvídense en Chicago de la Serie Mundial Norte-Sur, porque los Medias Blancas van a ser eliminados por los Rays más rápido que inmediatamente.
De todas maneras, solo por curiosidad e historia, ¿qué hicieron aquellos tres bateadores, los del medio de la alineación, en esa serie contra Arizona?
Lee, cuatro sencillos y cuatro strikeouts en 12 turnos... Aramís se fue sin incogible alguno en 12 viajes al home... Y Soriano, dos sencillos en 14 chances.
Ningún equipo ha ganado una serie de cinco juegos ni nada, si sus tres principales bateadores conectan apenas seis sencillos en 38 turnos, promedio combinado apenas sobre 150.
Creo que en esa oportunidad triunfó el trabajo de los scouts de avanzada, quienes estudiaron de manera excelente a los tres grandes, combinada esa labor con la de los pitchers, quienes siguieron exactamente las instrucciones acerca de cómo lanzarles.
Ahora también ha habido scouts de avanzada, por supuesto, pero la alineación de Wrigley Field posee hoy la veteranía necesaria para adaptarse en el home-plate a como le estén lanzando, no importa lo que sea. Además, el pitcheo de los Diamondbacks 2007 no es el de los Dodgers 2008.
Otra historia a favor es la de Geovany Soto, Reed Johnson, Jim Edmonds, Ryan Theriot y Mark DeRosa, entre quienes pueden estar los héroes inesperados que a menudo surjen en post-temporada.
En cuanto al staff de pitcheo de los Cachorros, creo que ninguno de los otros siete equipos de la pos-temporada llegó a estas alturas con sus hombres en mejor forma.
Todos están al máximo, desde Ryan Dempster, Carlos Zambrano, Rich Harden y Bob Howry como abridores, hasta los relevistas Carlos Mármol, Kerry Wood y compañía.
Además, Lor Piniella es uno de los mejores mánagers que he visto en mi vida.
Los Cachorros han sido el mejor equipos de la Liga Nacional durante toda la temporada. Creo que lo sigue siendo, y que tiene con qué superar también a la Liga Americana en la Serie Mundial.
Todo lo que necesitan hacer los lanzadores frente a los Dodgers, es tirarle a Manny Ramírez alrededor del home, que él se desespera. Es cierto que desde que llegó a los Dodgers bateó para cerca de 400. Pero lejos del home no hay quien conecte de hit...
¿Que le darán entonces muchas base por bolas?, bueno ¡¿y qué?!.
Sí, creo que Los Cachorros seguirán triunfales hasta el final.
Aun cuando siempre respeto al impredicible beisbol... Digo yo, ¿no?
