"Yo he visto boxeo toda mi vida y no recuerdo haber visto un invento como este jamás", dijo César Trejo, mientras cobraba en el sitio de venta de comida dentro del fastuoso MGM. "Me parece que Pacquiao es un gran boxeador, pero no sé si subir tanto peso de golpe para una sola pelea le haga bien a nadie por más bueno que sea. No creo que sea una pelea de verdad. Me parece una pérdida de dinero".

Sin embargo, a pesar del ambiente inicial hoy miércoles, se espera que arribe mucha gente a esta ciudad de los casinos, las luces, la bebida, la perdición y demás afines con la oscuridad, a finales de semana.
"El hotel tiene habitaciones disponibles y ya ha aparecido algo de gente que viene a ver la pelea", dijo Jacques King, agente de recepción de huéspedes del MGM. "Hace un par de años los fanáticos comenzaban a llegar antes, pero ahora parece que es diferente".
Los que sí han llegado temprano de todas maneras son los miembros de la prensa. En Las Vegas han aterrizado hombres de medios de Estados Unidos, México, Filipinas, Puerto Rico y hasta de Inglaterra.
"Ha sido una locura. Tenemos más miembros de la prensa que nunca y lamentablemente tuvimos que dejar gente por fuera", contó Ricardo Jiménez, quien realiza las conexiones entre la prensa de habla hispana y la compañía promotora de Pacquiao Top Rank. "Es fácilmente la pelea para la que tendremos más cobertura este año, pero aún no podemos dar las cifras oficiales del total de miembros de la prensa".
Con ambiente o no la pelea va a ser un éxito económico. No en balde las entradas se vendieron con una rapidez impresionante. No en vano los ejecutivos de HBO se mostraban tranquilos con el número presente y tentativo de 'Pay-Per-View' que han vendido y venderán. Es De la Hoya y sigue vendiendo.
Al que llaman 'Golden Boy' quizás le quede poco de boxeador, pero ahora es más promotor y vendedor que nunca. La pelea que se proponga vender en la cual él esté involucrado, la venderá, así sea contra un don nadie.
De la Hoya sigue vendiendo y el interés sobre esta pelea levanta hasta el morbo de quien le procura mál y la verá o la seguirá nada más para enterarse si le metieron una paliza o no.
De la Hoya vende... Todavía...
