Bigleaguers en Defensa de Bernazard
En medio de un clubhouse de los Mets con visible disgusto de muchos de los peloteros, el centerfielder Carlos Bentrán, dijo...: "Bernazard se procupaba porque ganáramos los juegos, quería que fuéramos campeones. Tanto que ahora mismo, después de haber sido despedido, sigue deseando nuestra victoria. Es muy honesto, pero cuando uno es muy honesto, hay personas a quienes no les agrada eso. No siempre suena bien".
El slugger y primera base Carlos Delgado expresó...: "Conozco a Tony hace mucho tiempo, y tengo muy buena opinión de él, por lo que es muy duro verlo perder su trabajo. Pero lógicamente, los Mets encontraron algo que no estaba dentro de lo que deseaban, de lo que creen correcto en la marcha de la organización".
Y Alex Cora, infielder-utílity...: "Mi sentimiento por Bernazard es muy personal. No me agrada ver a la gente que despiden de sus trabajos. Él es muy buena persona. Hablaré con Tony próximamente".

Y el cerrador Francisco Rodríguez, con quien Bernazard tuvo un altercado, mientras viajaban en autobús...: "Siempre estoy concentrado en hacer outs a los bateadores... Ese caso no me va a distraer de mis responsabilidades".
Bernazard ha sido acusado de desafiar a pelear a los peloteros del equipo doble A los Mets en el clubhouse de Binghamton. Y cuando el reportero del New York Daily News Adam Rubin lo publicó, aparecieron otros casos similares.
El gerente-general de los Mets, Omar Minaya, acusó a Rubín de haber publicado las historias porque deseaba un puesto en las oficinas del equipo, quizá el de Bernazard.
Rubin dijo ayer para fanáticos.com...: "Todo cuanto he escrito acerca de Tony Bernazard, fue bien investigado. Mi trabajo estuvo dentro de las normas de ética, y nada tiene qué ver con asuntos personales míos".
