Antonio de Nigris, una muerte anunciada
Durante su participación en la liga turca, el 'Tano' fue diagnosticado de un mal cardiaco por los médicos del equipo Ankarasport y prácticamente le prohibieron continuar jugando en esa liga, sin embargo, el mexicano se fue a Grecia para continuar con su carrera.

Panbos Hatzilambis, corresponsal del diario "El Mundo" en Grecia, declaró en entrevista al programa "ESPN Radio Fórmula", que en Turquía sabían de este mal, así como el riesgo de continuar jugando.
"Se le informó del engrosamiento de los músculos del corazón y de los riesgos para personas mayores de 30 años, pero él dijo que en México ya habían diagnosticado problemas de esta índole y no existía ningún problema", dijo Hatzilambis.
En una nota publicada por el diario mexicano Rércord, el entonces doctor del Ankarasport, Burak Kunduracioglu, reveló a los medios de su país que el había advertido al mexicano sobre su problema y por esto no continuó en el equipo. Incluso señaló que se había advertido de esto al club Larisa de Grecia.
Sus problemas de corazón habrían propiciado que De Nigris fuera transferido de un equipo a otro en la liga turca a pesar de su buen rendimiento.
Hatzilambis señaló que el Ankaraspor y el Ankaragucu prácticamente le prohibieron jugar a De Nigris para no poner en riesgo su vida y buscaron que la federación turca lo inhabilitara.
Sobre esta situación, los médicos del Larisa, actual club del mexicano, se limitaron a responder que se le realizaron los exámenes correspondientes y no se le detecto ningún mal cardiaco.
Se asegura que el 'Tano' nunca fue engañado y que desde el mismo inicio de la temporada él ya sabía que estaba jugando con su vida.

recuerdo mucho un gol cuando jugaba con pumas que se la quito de los pies al defensa y anoto el fin de semana me acorde de el al ver al otro denigris
es sin duda una gran perdida para el futbol que lastima que descanse en paz tono denigris estoy seguro que todos los que amamos asi el futbol le recordaremos por siempre mi mas sentido pesame a su familia
