'Veneno' Rubio noquea al 'Español' Álvarez
Marco Antonio Rubio pasó problemas para poder derrotar a un 'Español' que fue de menos a más en la pelea. Pero en base a su experiencia y su jerarquía se supo imponer a un rival limitado, que en lo único que lo superaba era en el poder de sus puños.
Rubio comenzó los dos primeros rounds dominando a plenitud, sus largos brazos y combinaciones de golpes parecían demasiado para Rigoberto Álvarez, quien parecía no asimilar la trascendencia del combate, y sólo se remitía a defenderse del castigo al que estaba siendo sometido.
Llegó el tercer asalto, y el 'Español' Álvarez intentaba meterse al combate, y conectaba esporádicamente fuertes combinaciones de golpes, que por momentos, hacían a Rubio retroceder. Sobre el final del asalto, logró llegar al rostro del 'Veneno' con poderosos impactos de izquierda y derecha que lo dejaron noqueado sobre pies, pero la campana que anunciaba el final del asalto logró salvar a Rubio.

Con esta victoria Marco Antonio Rubio mejora su record a 45 victorias, 5 derrotas y un empate, 39 de sus victorias por nocaut, mientras que Rigoberto Álvarez desmejoró a 32 victorias por 2 derrotas, 17 de sus victorias han sido por la via del cloroformo.
En la pelea semifinal de la noche, 'El mexicanito' Tomoki Kameda (12-0, 10 KO) se impuso por nocaut al mexicano Rodolfo Garay (26-17-1, 17 KO), tras conectarle un gancho a la región hepática sobre el minuto 1:53 del 3er asalto. Para así conquistar el campeonato gallo Fecarbox, avalado por el Consejo Mundial de Boxeo.
