Se rompe David Beckham y no va a Sudáfrica

El sueño de David Beckham de jugar en su última Copa Mundial en Sudáfrica se desvaneció este domingo. En partido del Calcio italiano del Milán contra Verona, el astro inglés se rupturó el tendón de Aquiles izquierdo sin haber recibido contacto.

Beckham recibió un pase en el pie izquierdo y luego se echó hacia atrás y comenzó a cojear sobre su pie derecho en los minutos finales de la victoria de su equipo por 1-0.

Ya el lunes por la tarde se reportó que Beckham fue operado en Finlandia por espacio de 50 minutos por el doctor Sakari Orava. Este indicó que pasarán de cuatro a cinco meses antes de que el mediocampista puede siquiera correr, alejando de forma definitiva su participación en el próximo Mundial.

El médico confirmó que Beckham sufrió una ruptura completa del tendón de Aquiles izquierdo pero se encontraba de buen humor tras la cirugía.

"Tenemos que esperar los resultados de la examinación, pero parece que estará fuera de la Copa del Mundo", había dicho el lunes Fabio Capello, director técnico de Inglaterra, antes de la cirugía. "David ha sido un gran profesional y ha trabajado fuertemente para estar listo para el Mundial, así que perdérselo será un gran golpe".

En su página web, Beckham indicó que está decepcionado con la lesión pero está confiado en que tendrá una pronta y completa recuperación. Además agradeció a sus fanáticos por sus mensajes de apoyo.
