El 'Niño' Fernando Torres ya es del Chelsea
Tras una amarga disputa durante todo el mercado de invierno, en el último día de fichajes se cerró el traspaso del español Fernando Torres al Chelsea. Trascendió que el equipo londinense desembolsó 80 millones de dólares por él.Liverpool hizo todo lo posible por retener a uno de sus últimos estandartes, inclusive la mañana del lunes el técnico 'red', Kenny Dalgish, negó que Torres fuera a salir del club. Pese a los intentos de los dirigentes la oferta del equipo propiedad del ruso Roman Abramovich, fue contundente.
Hay que agregar que desde la salida de su compatriota, Rafa Benitez, de la dirección técnica, Torres parecía buscar nuevos horizontes en la Liga Premier. El delantero de la selección española mantuvo alta su cotización en el mercado internacional, pese a la mala Copa del Mundo que tuvo, en la que su equipo salió campeón.
Liverpool no se quedó con las manos cruzadas y con poco más de la mitad del dinero que recibió por la venta de Torres se hizo de los servicios del delantero estelar del Newcastle, Andy Carroll. El uruguayo Luis Suarez también está a nada de fichar proveniente del Ajax.
Pese a no ganar ningún título durante sus cuatro años de estadía en Liverpool, Torres llegó a la cateogría de ídolo de una de las hinchadas más pasionaels de Inglaterra y se marcha con 72 goles anotados.
En Chelsea no le espera una tarea sencilla pues el equipo cumple con una temporada difícil, lejos de los primeros planos en la Premier.
