Un gol de Maicon desde un ángulo imposible a los 55 minutos le abrió a Brasil las puertas a una victoria por 2-1 sobre Corea del Norte en su debut en la Copa Mundial, en un partido que dejó muchas dudas acerca del potencial de los sudamericanos.Maicon anotó con un remate casi desde la raya de fondo, que sorprendió al arquero, quien esperaba un pase atrás. Elano aumentó a las 72 al recibir un pase magistral de Robinho, el mejor jugador de Brasil, y Ji Yun Nam descontó a los 89.
Los brasileños quedaron así como únicos líderes del Grupo F, en el que previamente Portugal y Costa de Marfil habían empatado sin goles.
El tanto de Maicon luego de casi una hora de juego dio tranquilidad a una selección brasileña que mostró pocas ideas, en la que Kaká pasó casi inadvertido.
Los norcoreanos, que juegan su segundo mundial y el primero en 44 años, se las ingeniaron para rechazar los tímidos ataques de los brasileños, que se mostraron muy cautelosos en una noche helada, con tres grados centígrados (37 Farenheit).
Maicon subió poco, pero cuando lo hizo, marcó la diferencia. En su primera incursión ofensiva seria, remató al arco y el portero Ri Myong Guk desvió al córner en el primer tiempo.
En la segunda, llegó a la raya de fondo, amagó tirar un centro atrás y sacó un cañonazo que se coló entre el poste y el arquero, y terminó adentro.
Robinho fue el brasileño más incisivo, con algún chispazo de lujo y varios tiros al arco desde media distancia, que fueron la principal arma de Brasil.
Michel Basto motivó una lucida atajada de Guk con los puños un remate desde unos 25 metros y también ejecutó un tiro libre desde el borde del área que salió muy cerca del travesaño.
Dunga, quien da prioridad al orden y la disciplina, no hizo cambios en el segundo tiempo a pesar del flojo desempeño del primer período, pero sus jugadores le sacaron las castañas del fuego.
La subida de Maicon a los 55 compensó todas las fallas ofensivas y Brasil respiró aliviado cuando Robinho le hizo un pase milimétrico a Elano, quien entrando por la derecha marcó el segundo con un tiro bajo, cruzado.
Los asiáticos lanzaron esporádicos contragolpes en los que Jong Tae Se, "el Wayne Rooney coreano", complicó a la zaga brasileña con su velocidad. Tae Se exigió a Julio César con un tiro desde la entrada del área y también tuvo un par de remates desviados.
En el complemento los asiáticos casi no atacaron. A cinco minutos del final, sin embargo, Ji Yun Nam sorprendió a la zaga brasileña tras un pase largo y descontó luego de ganarle la espalda a Lucio y Juan.
