En su primer partido como titular, Robben convirtió un brillante gol a los 18 minutos. Justo cuando Eslovaquia se había armado con valentía y con tesón buscaba empatar, Sneijder se encargó de liquidar el trámite a los 84 con su segundo gol del torneo.
Robert Vittek maquilló el resultado al transformar un penal en el cuarto y último minuto de los descuentos, luego que el arquero Maarten Stekelenburg derribó a Martin Jakubko.
Vittek llegó a los cuatro goles en el torneo y alcanzó en la cima de la tabla de cañoneros al argentino Gonzalo Higuaín.
