Pareciera que la última tendencia en el fútbol argentino es hablar de "mística". Pese a que el término remita a lo divino, lo espiritual, o lo teológico, a la prensa deportiva le encanta utilizarlo para colocarle rótulos a los equipos ganadores, a los jugadores, o, incluso, a las hinchadas. Desde la óptica de los especialistas, la mística puede haberse originado hace muchos años y, en teoría, permanecer indefinidamente en el tiempo. En otros casos pudo haberse adquirido más recientemente, pero ya amerita aplicar dicho mote y hasta podría desaparecerle a clubes que la supieron forjar en tiempos pasados de gloria.

En ese contexto, Boca Juniors tiene "mística copera", también Estudiantes de La Plata (aunque ganara su última Copa en 1970) e Independiente, quién alzó por última vez una Supercopa en 1995, se supone que por su pésimo presente futbolístico la ha perdido. Asimismo, otros tantos cu
adros- siempre según los medios- tienen "mística" para afrontar finales de ascenso y hasta ciertos futbolistas se destacan por contar con ella. De hecho, el último intercambio de opiniones entre Diego Maradona, el actual DT de la Selección nacional, y Alfio Basile, el DT saliente, tuvo que ver con eso: con la mística de los jugadores de la albiceleste.


Diego Armando Maradona tiene grandes deseos de dirigir la Selección argentina. Lo expresó claramente en distintos medios de comunicación y, consecuentemente con sus ganas, mostró una mesura poco habitual para su perfil. Es que el "diez" no quiere cometer errores, por eso camina con pies de plomo. Evidentemente siente que la oportunidad que se produjo con la ida de Basile es inmejorable. Y no la quiere desaprovechar.


Como era de esperar, sus seguidores más fanáticos también compartieron los deseos de Diego. El problema es que algunos, al manifestar su apoyo a quien fuera el mejor jugador del mundo, en lugar de ayudarlo, lo complicaron. Tal es el caso de los afiches que se vieron por toda la Ciudad de Buenos Aires postulando a su ídolo. "Diego a la Selección" decía la leyenda simple, pero contundente. La inscripción, impresa con los colores de la camiseta albiceleste de fondo, estaba firmada por Niceto, un club nocturno porteño.

La selección argentina se llevó un triunfo muy importante frente a Uruguay por las eliminatorias sudamericanas. No sólo porque cortó con una racha de cinco partidos sin ganar. Si no, además, porque supo lidiar con la presión que eso le imponía, contra un pésimo arbitraje, un consecuente juego brusco del equipo oriental y, especialmente, con sus propias falencias.

Las declaraciones de Diego Armando Maradona expresadas en el canal de TV Fox Sports siguen generando repercusiones. Una de las opiniones más polémicas fue aquella en la que "el Diez" sostuvo que "Messi a veces juega para Messi. Todavía se olvida de sus compañeros. Es Deportivo Messi".


Asimismo, "Pelusa" agregó que el crack del Barcelona debería jugar "más para el equipo". Como era de esperar, los "loritos parlanchines" mediáticos y devotos de Maradona, no tardaron demasiado en hacer como propia la apreciación de Diego. De hecho, ya repiten cuasi religiosamente que Messi es egoísta dentro de la cancha. Y que ayer, en el partido con Perú, quedó ratificado una vez más.

Otra vez el mismo plan, otra vez la falta de ideas, otro partido sin ganar: el quinto. Y aunque Basile se haya golpeado las manos con vehemencia, maldiciendo a su mala suerte por el empate que Perú logró sobre la hora, Argentina jugó mal y no merecía ese triunfo que se les escapó en tiempo de descuento.


De hecho, quedó claro en esa última jugada: Messi perdió el balón en terreno contrario, no reaccionó Zanetti, tampoco Coloccini y Battaglia acompañó (sin tocarlo, sin tirársele a los pies y sin ponerle el cuerpo) aproximadamente 50 metros a Juan Vargas, hasta que el peruano llegó al área, lanzó un pase a Johan Fano, quién convirtió y selló el 1 a 1 final. Una sucesión de errores que son una pequeña muestra del flojo papel que desarrolló Argentina el resto del encuentro.

Una vez más Lionel Messi salvó a la Selección argentina de una frustración. Tras una corrida hacia el área contraria y un pase milimétrico a Agüero, que el "Kun" supo convertir en gol luego de buena definición, la Pulga demostró nuevamente ser determinante para el equipo albiceleste.


Antes de la intervención del delantero del Barcelona, que selló el empate definitivo en uno, Argentina fue pura confusión. Solo se contabilizan un tiro libre de Riquelme en el travesaño, algunos desbordes de Di María y otras pocas intenciones del mismo Messi.
