Don King es quizás mejor político demagogo que promotor de boxeo y es mucho decir, si la historia nos cuenta que ha sido uno de los mejores armadores de peleas. Don King manipula mentes con la misma habilidad que monta una buena cartelera. Se le hace tan fácil engañar como al político que con promesas de techo y pan duplica su número de votos. Miente y sonríe y el pueblo le cree. Agita las manos y el pueblo sueña, alucina.

A veces la ficción sobrepasa la realidad y la alcanza de manera triste y a veces trágica. Los que vimos Rocky V recordamos cómo el legendario pugilista pierde todo su dinero y para completar no puede volver a pelear porque sufre no se qué en la cabeza y cualquier golpe entonces pudiera ser mortal.Creo que esto le está pasando también a los boxeadores en la vida real, que de tantos golpes sufren lesiones. Quizás no tan graves como las de Rocky pero lesiones al fin. Unas que lastiman su sentido común y los vuelven brutos, sin capacidad mental para darse cuenta cuando están acabados.
Pero cuando se habla de fútbol, el nombre Puerto Rico nunca es parte de la conversación. Y es que Borinquen siempre ha sido un asterisco, una nación siempre al márgen, un cero a la izquierda en todo lo referente al mundo del balompié.
En septiembre de este 2007 se cumplirán los primeros ocho años de la pelea entre Félix 'Tito' Trinidad y el 'Golden Boy' Oscar de la Hoya. Aquella pelea que abrió el compás de discusión que parece nunca se cerrará. La polémica sigue y aún hay quien dice que no ganó quien vieron los jueces ganar. · ¿Y tú quién crees que ganó?
