No lo culpamos, pues ha recibido tres aparatosos nocauts en sus últimas cinco apariciones en el ring y en este nivel de competición en el que se encuentra, enfrentando a cinco de los mejores púgiles de la categoría de las 168 libras, lo que mas peligra es su salud e incluso su vida.
"Sobre el Torneo de los Súper Seis, si todavía soy parte de él y todavía estoy entrenando duro para las luchas futuras."
Debemos recordar que tras el aparatoso nocaut que recibió a unos poco segundos de que terminara su pelea en contra del alemán 'King' Arthur Abraham, muchos nos preguntamos si era necesario que se siguiera exponiendo su salud o mejor que se retirara de una vez por todas del boxeo. De no hacerlo que mejor lo reemplazaran por otro peleador en el torneo, porque a ese nivel de competencia podría suceder una tragedia.
Por la mañana del domingo fui como de costumbre a RingTV.com a leer qué era lo que esas personas tenían que decir y Michael Rosenthal fue quien se encargó de la reseña de la pelea. Él fue tajante al decir que Jermain Taylor se debía retirar y ceder su lugar en el torneo de los súper seis. Y se comprende su punto de vista, el ex-campeón del mundo ha sufrido 3 nocauts en sus 5 últimas peleas, y ha perdido 4 de ellas, quizá nunca más vuelva a ser el mismo.
Bueno, el pasado sábado 20 de Octubre de los corrientes se celebraron 2 de los 3 pleitos correspondientes a la primera jornada del torneo, uno en Alemania y el otro en Inglaterra. En ambos el ganador fue el peleador local, quien se impuso sobre el visitante proveniente de los Estados Unidos.
Euros 2 Yankies 0 decía la portada del website de Ring Magazine, pero este torneo luce mucho más que una lucha de naciones, es una lucha por la supremacía de la división en donde a nadie le interesa el lugar de donde provengan los peleadores. Algo que faltaba ya en un presente boxístico en donde hay tantos campeones mundiales que la gente tiende a confundirse.
