De acuerdo con reportes de prensa de Nueva York, los Bombarderos del Bronx acaban de adquirir al serpentinero boricua Javier Vázquez, en una transacción con los Bravos de Atlanta, que recibirán, entre otros, al dominicano Melky Cabrera.No será la primera ocasión en la que Vázquez se coloca el uniforme tradicional a rayas. En el 2004 estuvo en la Gran Manzana y aunque terminó con una efectividad un tanto alta -4.91- se fue con balance ganador 14-10, y lo más importante, tuvo un WHIP -promedio de hombres que se le embasan por inning- de 1.28, una cifra sólida.
